Mom Surprised With Diploma After Helping Her Son Graduate

Marty O’Connor was recently awarded his MBA at Chapman University. After receiving his diploma, something special happened: Marty’s mother, Judith O’Connor, was called out by the announcer as a “special individual” and asked to stand.

Marty’s mother has been to every single one of his classes to assist him in his education. Marty in fact had an accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Therefore, faculty had decided to award Judith with an honorary degree. She was extremely surprised. The announcer said: “Mrs. Judith O’Connor has attended all the classes with her son Marty. She has taken notes and worked with Marty throughout his academic career.”

Apparently, it was Marty to ask that his mother be honored. The university was happy to comply having witnessed what Judith had done for her son. Judith has been a teacher her whole life.
