Mother Facing Jail Time for Not Vaccinating Her Son

As the vaccine debate keeps on spiraling out of control, Rebecca Bredow of Detroit’s area reportedly told ABC that she would prefer going to jail instead of vaccinating her son. These are her own words. She also says that she choose not to vaccinate her kid and that this is her own choice. She doesn’t claim that she’s particularly against vaccines and she doesn’t condemn those who are – she believes that everyone is entitled to his own choice.

The woman says that she and her husband at the time, Jason Horne, actually agreed to space out the vaccinations for their younger son. She and her husband separated back in 2008 and the latter currently wants for their kid to get the vaccinations.

Unfortunately, as they spaced the vaccinations back in time, the kid now has to take all eight vaccines in one dose.

Now, the woman also claims that she is the primary caretaker of the kid, even though she and her husband share joint custody. The state of Michigan, however, allows for parents to actually opt-out of particular vaccines for reasons which are not medical. Nevertheless, the AAP actually states definitively that the vaccines are safe and they are absolutely effective. They also claim that vaccines actually save lives.

With all this said, this is a hot topic at the moment and this situation is just the epitome, the production of the social tension that’s building up around this subject.
